Artists are taking up the current Green Pepper Press challenge – carving your own stamps and creating your own stencils. Check out my good friend Ursula’s carving efforts at Barefoot Wanderings.
I cannot claim to participate in this cut it out challenge, but I’m at least sort of “on theme”. My stencil was the simplest and laziest that one can achieve – a silhouette cut out. I knew that it was not going to be particularly durable as it was simply a photocopy, so was delighted to use it three times before I ripped her face.
Here I have used it in it’s simplest application. The picture is I suppose a reverse silhouette in that the figures are coloured and the background black. It is a man and woman in formal dress / tails dancing. In describing the photo I realise that she is largely green, though thankfully does not look like the incredible hulks younger sister. At least her flared skirt is in orange – pinks. Unfortunately that means his trousers are also pink in spots. What can I say… an interesting take on tails?
